Barack Hussein Obama: The USA is “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”
June 3, 2009 · By Greg Farries
What country does Obama think he’s the President of?
It is important to note that “if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world”.
Huh? Perhaps he’s banking on no one in the Muslim world actually fact checking his pandering act:
Debbie Schlussel cites a reputable survey by Pew that puts the number of Muslims in the US at 1.8 million. This would make it the 48th biggest Muslim country, after the above list plus France, Libya, Jordan, Israel, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Germany, Kuwait, Oman, Eritrea, Lebanon and Serbia and Montenegro – and just above Britain, which would be the 50th.

Update: Here is exactly what Obama said:
Now, the flip side is I think that the United States and the West generally, we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam. And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. And so there’s got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples.
President Obama Should Leave the Teleprompter at Home
April 27, 2009 · By Greg Farries
Over 100 days in office and that damn teleprompter keeps getting in the way. Seriously, how many more painful videos do we have to watch of the President looking like a jackass before he figures out prepared notes are a better solution?
“In addition to John – sorry, the – I just noticed I jumped the gun here,” Obama said, pausing for several seconds as he looked at the prompter. “Go ahead. Move it up. I had already introduced all you guys.”
The Teleprompt Strikes Again – Obama’s Crutch Malfunctions
March 18, 2009 · By Greg Farries
As I mentioned earlier this week, Obama’s – and possibly the Irish PM’s – crutch is getting embarrassing.
Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was just a few paragraphs into an address in Washington when he realised it all sounded a bit too familiar.
It was. He was repeating the speech President Barack Obama had just read from the same teleprompter.
Mr Cowen stopped, turned to the president and said: “That’s your speech.”
A laughing Mr Obama returned to the podium to take over but it seems the script had finally been switched and the US president ended up thanking himself for inviting everyone to the party.
Mr Obama is an accomplished orator but is becoming known in America as the “teleprompt president” over his reliance on the machine when he gives a speech. [emphasis mine]
How likely would this had happened if the President spoke from those archaic things called notes?
Obama the Great Orator…Not So Much
March 14, 2009 · By Greg Farries
President Obama can’t seem to shake his crutch, the teleprompter.
The American Spectator notes that for many events: “… down to many of the questions and the answers to those questions. … [t]eleprompter screens at the events scrolled not only his opening remarks, but also statistics and information he could use to answer questions.” It quoted one Obama advisor as saying that Mr. Obama is looking at installing a computer screen in White House podiums so “it would make it easier for the comms (communications) guys to pass along information without being obvious about it.”
Also make sure to read Politico’s article, “Obama’s safety net: the TelePrompter“, which was one of the first media outlets to question President Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter.
