Time to decriminalize marijuana

January 17, 2012 · By

If there is one good thing about the Liberal proposal to legalize and regulate marijuana, it is this:

“We were expanding the debate,” Lavoie told CTV’s Power Play in Ottawa on Monday.

I would like to see the debate expand towards decriminalization and end there. We do not need the regulation. Regulation is just a different way of making the same thing illegal.

I think regulation just like cigarettes and alcohol and pain medication. I don’t think you can allow drugs into the market without regulation as they can be too dangerous. Even if the regulation deals just with kids, it has to be there.

The LPC is playing games with hopeful Canadians, again. They initiated the LeDain Commission under Trudeau forty years ago,and have never followed the recommendations in all the times they’ve had majorities and control of the Senate.

The Liberals are simply liars on this issue, just as they were on the GST.

Imho, marijuana should be outright legalised, and offerred for sale at liquor stores. We might as well get the tax money that is currently going to organized crime.
