Can somebody explain to me why the poor people of Ontario should foot the bill of the failed pension gambling that was undertook by past Nortel employees?

Because Ontario is a socialist paradise where we all have the privilege of being servants of the State?
northern ontario towns have been hit with mill closures all along the north shore of lake superior.
the government made no attempt to keep the mines open and now the companies have gone bankrupt and people get no pension or so little pension they can’t live.
Where is the government for the people who actually do physical labour so they can have a retirement they can enjoy.
Wonder what would happen if teachers had their pension slashed would we have to fork out for them to 100%.
We might have more money and less taxes if McGinty would spend as if it was his own money. I bet his wife has a budget at home.
I only know as much as that article stated, but aren’t they being paid of of a kind of insurance fund that is designed to top up failed pension plans? Also, in the article it mentions $130M that has been given to other companies in similar circumstances so I’m not sure where fedup is coming from at all.
I absolutely agree we shouldn’t be funding these pension shortfalls, but –hey– we just bailed out an entire sector in Ontario, so it’s not like we don’t have precedent.
Socialism makes me cry.
Sigh…I feel conservative on this one.
bail out Nortel = Bail out EVERYONE who ever lost their pension.
