Expelling Bob Rae from Sri Lanka

June 11, 2009 · By Charles Anthony

The federal government’s response to Bob Rae’s expulsion from Sri Lanka is very curious. Only a few months ago the federal government denied entry to George Galloway into Canada for what ostensibly seems the same reasons.

I am of the opinion the treatment of both men is completely wrong but the denial of George Galloway’s visit is completely stupid. We have nothing to hide in Canada and Canadians do not need the government sheltering them from information. Whereas, I do not trust the Sri Lankan government in the least. They need to deny the media access to their country.

Oh, how fickle politics can be! Score a point here, lose a point there.

The federal government did NOT deny Gallway entry – they advised him in London before he went to the US that he MIGHT have a problem, and he decided not try to actually enter.

Be careful reading and believing the press!!!!! You should know by now that the MSM want smear “negative ad headlines” for the government. Jason Kenny explained this mis-perception to CTV.

So, the situation may be similar, but reversed! Rae obtained a visa in Ottawa, but he was turned down on entry. Sri Lanks’s border authorities may be like ours, i.e., it is the border inspector and agency who decides.

Thanks for the clarification but I guess you can interpret things any way you want:

Although the decision to block Galloway was made by Canadian Border Services Agency, Kenney has said he will not intervene in the ruling.

So when did Bob Rae deliver money and supplies to the Tamil Tigers?

Galloway and Strong should be allowed to enter Canada so they can be arrested for defrauding the UN Oil for Food program.

    Galloway.
    It’s Galloway.
    George Gal-lo-way.
The way to tell, is by reading the link you posted.

    *facepalm*

Correction made. Thanks for noting the typo!

Yes, there is something to be said about Mr. Galloway aiding and abetting terrorists by supplying them with money.

    Kursk: good point about Galloway.

Here’s a question for the group: By offering tacit support for protesting Tamils (many of which were clearly aligned with the Tamil Tigers), is the Liberal Party of Canada tacitly supporting terrorism? If not then where is the “support” line?

I mean, Galloway gives money and cars to Hamas and is considered to be in support of terrorists. The LPoC offers political assistance to protesting Tamils and they are not considered to be supporting a terrorist cause(?).

What determines if you’re within or without the axis of evil? :)

Not quite the same. There is video footage of Galloway handing money to a terrorist organization. Rae is no Galloway. Unlike Rae, Galloway is an actual supporter (and very actively so) of terrorists.

I am glad the Galloway clarification has been made so poignantly.

The seminal piece on Galloway was written by Terry Glavin, and is well worth the read. It can be found here:

    http://transmontanus.blogspot......wrong.html

The article is so well written and so precise that Christopher Hitchens, who was initially against the Canadian Government on this matter, issued a retraction and directed his readers to Terry Glavin’s piece for the real scoop.

Hope that clears things up a little Charles

Thanks, James but I am not so easily swayed. From that link:

In all the foreign and domestic sniggerings, objections, protests and complaints about the way Canada and its officials have handled the Galloway file, you will have to look very hard before you find one – just one – that does not wholly depend upon an embarassing error of fact, a delusion, a conspiracy theory, or an outright lie.

I have an objection: I think “Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, specifically, Section 34 (1), which, among other things, cites “engaging in terrorism” as grounds to prevent a person from entering Canada” is both delusional and institutionalized conspiracy.

I have to ask: What did the British authorities do in response to Galloway’s engagement in terrorism and funding of Hamas? Did they charge him? Are those actions perfectly legit in Britain but not here in Canada?

Quick! Close the Canadian border before Rae tries to get back in!

Rae is a grandstanding, dumbass, terrorist supporter.

You do realize that by proposing that Rae not be permitted into Canada, or Galloway for that matter, that you are no better than the Sri Lankan government?

Geez RD, grab a pound of soft butter, dig your fingernails in and get a grip will you?

Why are those on the left so humourless, so drab?

Got something to say? (Read the rules first)
