Separatists in the Canadian Senate: Rumour
December 2, 2008 · By Greg Farries
If this is true, it’ll be the move that will truly ignites western separatism:
Minister Cannon tells Mike Duffy that the latest rumour on the Hill has 6 separatists being appointed to the Senate under the coalition deal…

Not to mention that our Governor General is married to one! Gee, she won’t be biased in her decision at all, will she?
Well if Minister Cannon says it it must be true – NOT!
When Duceppe was asked, the english interpretation was,
‘ I told Dion I wasn’t interested in the Senate’
So did Dion offer?
CTV interview after QP,
did I hear right? was the interpretation right?
will try tp catch a repeat.
Lets see here…a written contract not to contest any money bills between three parties united in their disdain for the energy sector, the primary engine of the Western economy.
I watched the debates. Alberta, BC and SK are the targets. We are the region effectively neutered by the axis of evil, the low-hanging fruit for a group united in their desire to shovel money into Ont and Quebec.
If they agreed to raid our provinces, there is no one to stop them, is there?
By signing an agreement to deny democratic representation to the west, not even a Liberal like Ralph Goodale could oppose a raid on his own back yard, could he?
If this senate rumour is the case then Harper should appoint 18 senators (even if for limited terms) – at least to get some conservatives in there. If these bozos get in there – it will represent close to 20 years without any inclusion of conservative senators. While I would prefer to see elected senators – I would NOT prefer to see Elizabeth May and the Bloc (or NDP/Libs for that matter) – get that privilege which would work to haunt conservatives in the future. I mean we have to fight fire w/ fire – if the opposition are prepared to use rarely used constituational rights so too should we…..
Kelly, I am from Ontario but I sympathize with you and the West. Don’t lump all of us Ontarians in with the asshats! If you must point a finger, please direct it at the city of Toronto.
Mr. Harpermania, I agree with you re: Mother Nature May. Keep her the hell away from any decision making: we are in enough deep doo-doo as it is.
Of all the rumours floating around this has to be the silliest. The only part of it that might be true is the possible appointment of Elizabeth May to the Senate. As for the rest of it–utter nonsense. Both the Bloc and the NDP are opposed to the Senate and wish to see it abolished.

Therefore, it is most unlikely that they would ask for or accept Senate appointments
Kelly -before you come back with something about my eastern prejudices or something I’ve lived all over the West AND worked in the gas industry (suck on that glacialcow) and will return to BC in the next few years on a permanent basis [finally]
When I read and hear on the radio messages such as yours I cannot help but feel sad because it’s clear you are not seeing the big picture.
Not only is this not ‘another’ NEP all over again this is about a lot more than whether the oil industry can or cannot artificially inflate our economic figures for awhile longer.
SURPREEZ!
A Conservative Cabinet Minister predicted something bad to come from the PDPFD government.
Kenny worked in the gas industry: he once used the self-serve at a gas station instead of sitting in his car drinking his soy latte at the full serve! Ooooo…..big brave Kenny!
No glacial I worked three different geophysical companies including a division of Schlumberger and like I said I don’t drink soy milk.
