"I’m also obligated to point out that, as much as it’ll probably make Atheist dogmatics scream in agony to the contrary, it’s pretty hard to see how this new body couldn’t be capable of becoming the reincarnation of the sixth empire that the Bible says will come about again in the last days to serve as the political vehicle through which the antichrist will rule the world."

And Angela Merkel is the whore of Babylon?

Not really, Northern Europe out-represents our fascist friends in Italy.

Your logic on sorting out common issues is also as tortured as a Gitmo "detainee".
Sometimes you have to dance with the devil because of geography regardless of philosophy. Droughts, tidal waves and declining fish stocks do not discriminate because of man made dogma.

As for Italy; If this was Chavez in Venezuela you'd be complaining like crap, but no this is religious zealot with a right wing background so all is smiley-happy if slightly "goosesteppy". So I guess it's time to applaud and admire the fact that their trains run on time, regardless of who is dieing to make it happen. As long as it's not you being rounded up that is.

This from the "Harebell" who only wrote that Italy (what was the capital of that country again?) was turning into a fascist state yesterday. I guess if one of your echo-chamber buds wrote this article, it would be currently framed on your wall as enlightened wisdom:

http://harebell.wordpress.com/2008/07/14/speaking-of-totalitarian-regimes-italy/

Mind you, not that I agree on your assessment of Italy's new PM, but your argument and rhetoric are inconsistent with each other.

Thanks for coming out, make sure to try the veal!

wow
so most of Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia are lumped in with the Baltic states and all are dismissed as insignificant.
You USA-centric fear that others might find a way to address common issues without the US leads you to brand it an empire and wave biblical threats to scare the poop out of the delusionals in the homeland.
Please realise that others might have good ideas that might work and they might not include right wing, religious zealots who think the GW is a hero and the USA.
