United Nations: British Monarchy a Human Rights Issue

June 18, 2008 · By Adam Dyck

This story raises several questions, the immediate ones being why are Syria and Iran on the UN Human Rights Council, and where does Iran get off accusing the UK of sexual discrimination?

However, looking past the obvious we see what is perhaps a more serious issue. While the UN didn’t actually “do” anything in this situation (as per the usual), I think they still might be overstepping their boundaries.

Supporters of the UN are so happy when we go in and tell some little Third World Country what to do. But what happens when it comes home to us?
