Straight From the Liberal Fear Factory…

December 4, 2007 · By Matthew

The Liberals are talking a great deal these days about the Harper government using negative “U.S. style” attack ads, and black paint with which to smear Stephane Dion. So, what does the party of *Canadian optimism* and “progressive politics” show when it’s online mouthpiece hosts a video contest? A bunch of U.S.-style, dark attack ads…oh, but they’re lame, that makes them different!!!

I scanned all of the ones on the page tonight. Only one seemed legitimately effective; despite me not agreeing with the correlation (and the fact that a certain German businessman just shot down his own attacks on a certain former PM today…), the cinematography and theme was very, very well done. I guess you eventually have to hit the ball after so many swings & misses…

The Liberal Party is chock full of America haters; “America style attack ads”; “America style health care”; “I hate those bastards”. It never stops. At every turn Liberal supporters attack our largest trading partner while ambulances race across the border to private hospitals to save Canadian lives. Really disgusting!!

I asked Jason on his blog if he looks in the mirror when he is “quoting” himself in the press releases he writes.

It’s funny because the conservative videos that are produced (not official ones) usually involve some clip from question period showing real Liberal incompetence. But here we have drive by smears and misrepresentations galore. The close mindedness is astounding.

The “Integrity” ad talks about leadership, Harper’s broken promises on Kelowna, Kyoto, etc. All the while showing an unflattering close-up of Harper. Then at the end of the ad, you would think it would show a flattering pic of Dion, as a contrast to Harper, and trumpet Dion as having integrity ? But nope. No mention of Dion. No pics of Dion. Just a shot of the Liberal logo, with talk about the Party.

    Indeed.

The Liberals would have better luck promoting Kyoto (woof! woof!) instead.

Sorry Matthew, but there is a HUGE difference between individually-submitted videos from the (Liberal) public, and officially-sponsored and paid-for videos, aired on television, from the CPC.

With the former, there is no clear direction from the top down as to the content of the video, while with the former, you can bet the CPC was intimately involved with the entire production.

As to the anti-CPC invective from the Liberal grassroots - well, you don’t have to go very far to see examples of the reverse. Such is the nature of the beast.

Abattoir, of course there is a difference between individually submitted videos and official party videoes. However, these individual members also speak out against “American sytle attack ads”.

Got something to say?
