Beer Drinkers Be Warned - You’re Destroying the Earth!

November 30, 2007 · By Greg Farries

Who knew that a beer fridge in your garage could be so evil?

The government-commissioned study says the old, inefficient “beer fridges” that one in three Canadian households use to store their Molson and Labatt’s contribute significantly to global warming by guzzling gas- and coal-fired electricity. [via: politicalstaples.com]

Read all the gory details at New Scientist. And you’d better be ready to hide that beloved beer fridge; the author of the beer fridge study proposes a government run “round-up” of these carbon spewing devices.

Young supports government-run “round-ups” offering to pick up and dispose of old refrigerators.

“Clearly the environmental implications of having a frivolous luxury like a beer fridge are not hitting home.”

Let me guess. This researcher will be flying in a jet to Bali…to preach about how working-class Canadians should be giving up more of their frivolous luxuries.

These environmental types all seem to think that unless we ride our bicycles to work, live 10 people to a 500 square foot apartment, and set the heat set just above 10 degrees, that we’re wasting resources and living in frivolous luxury.

I don’t pay any attention to their public service messages.

You know, during the winter, you can often just stick the beer in the garage itself to keep it cold. It’s really not that hard to get rid of one of these - and I say this as someone who consumes an awful lot of beer.

    Meh…

Comment readers be warned - Anonymous commentators, such as the one above, often lack common sense and a sense of humour resulting in bland and boring statements.
