Protecting Transsexuals: The NDP tackles the big issues

November 24, 2007 · By Aaron Unruh

The NDP on exporting “Canadian values“:

On Nov. 3, the NDP’s federal council adopted a new policy on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and transsexual rights…

The policy…seeks legal protection for transgendered and transsexual people and demands that the Canadian government work for their rights in other countries.

Protection from violence, hate and social inequity are rights that I would stand up for.

You may think homosexuals are mentally ill (I don’t). You wouldn’t stand up for the same rights for the mentally ill? Or do you perceive homosexuality to be of a special type of illness not afforded the right to not face violence and hate?

Ironically, bob, you share Tommy Douglas’ opinion: that homosexuality is a mental disease… historical context about the NDP that was unfortunately left out of the article that otherwise praises that party.

Wow! talk about making demands. Not only do they want what they want here but Ottawa has to strong arm every other country in the world to get the local freaks what they want. Talk about chutzpah! (real conservative)

    Real Conservative,

yeah usually the NDP are isolationists. It’s too bad they don’t want Canadians fighting for the human rights of Afghan women.
