Why should we care about Mulroney?
November 13, 2007 · By Aaron Unruh
Clearing Brian Mulroney’s good name is in Canada’s interests, argue some. Who makes up these some? These are the tiny number of people in the former PM’s inner circle…Don’t expect Stephen Harper to bury his own reputation by trying to burnish Mulroney’s.

Mulroney is a red tory so I wouldn’t die on the cross for him. But I want to see a fair trial too.
A fair trial?? Fair for who??
I am sure the people in the “public inquiry” business are happy to hear the news.
A “fair” trial is not free. We are looking at dumping more tax-payers’ dollars and paying more bureaucrats to get this “fair” trial.
As a tax-payer, I have already lost the money and now I am going to lose even more! Great! Sounds like a Lose-Win situation.
What do tax-payers gain?? They gain the opportunity to set an example to future politicians. Wow!
They also gain the opportunity to keep Schreiber longer in Canada — wonderful.
You know what shocks me: all of this over such a small amount of money — $300,000 really is not that great. [Mind you, it would make a world of a difference to me but I have no reputation at stake.] The thought that Mulroney would stoop so low for such a relatively low amount of money is peculiar.
I find it interesting to note that Schreiber, “an international arms dealer, lobbyist and entrepreneur” seems to earn a living off of market sectors that are monopolized by government bureaucracy.
I find it also telling that Mulroney raised a fuss to defend his reputation a few years ago only when the government agents tarnished his reputation. At least he gave the money to charity.

A bad reputation can cripple a person.
I say let the press have at Mulroney all they want. Let THEM do all the research and continue to put Mulrouney’s reputation in doubt. In the future, Mulroney and his family’s business prospects will be curtailed. Anyone who associates themselves — or has associated themselves in the past — with Mulroney will run the risk of sharing his reputation.
