Newt Gingrich vs Al Gore - Battle of the Books
October 18, 2007 · By Greg Farries
A Contract with the Earth, by Newt Gingrich and Terry L. Maple has just been released,
The authors alternately brand their approach mainstream and entrepreneurial environmentalism—mainstream because it rejects alarmist projections based on what they perceive as activist science and hysterical journalism, and entrepreneurial because they reject the notion that free enterprise and a cleaner world are opposing forces.
Quebec Wants Federalism Side Deal - No Kidding?

Even before the ink is dry on this weeks Throne Speech, Quebec’s Intergovernmental Affairs Minister is asking for a side-deal from Ottawa on curbing federal spending in areas of provincial jurisdiction.
Read’s Advice for Stephene Dion on the Throne Speech
October 17, 2007 · By Greg Farries
Make sure to check out Scott “beer and popcorn” Read’s advice for Stéphane Dion on what he should do concerning the Speech from the Throne.
The gist of the advice, don’t vote the Throne Speech down!.. oh and the National Press Gallery is biased against you - they would all love to see you burn in an federal election.
The problem is not that the national press gallery is collectively biased against you. Even if it seems that way.
Certainly, it would be tempting to dwell on the cringe-inspiring way the media approach Stephen Harper. Like a hand-shy dog, the gallery questions the Conservative Prime Minister with its nose down, fearing that a rolled-up newspaper will soon be smacked across its hindquarters. The more Harper bullies the press, the more they seek his approval. It’s deeply psychological and more than a bit puzzling.
“This Monstrous Plan”…no, seriously

“I Have A Dream: That’s You’ll Buy My Movie”

You knew it was coming. The inevitable comparisons between “ground breakers” Al Gore and Martin Luther King.
I don’t know what’s more depressing. The left’s inability to grasp any historical phenomenon that occurred some time prior to the last two days of Kos postings or their willingness to tear down historical heroes until they are the equivalents of contemporary mediocrities.
Black Like Me
October 12, 2007 · By Marsilio Facino
As this heretical kind of writer who publishes in both the liberal Village Voice and the conservative Washington Times, I consider it a major story that this summer Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, revealed that “since 1973, over 14 million black babies have been aborted, which is equal to the combined population of eight midwestern states.†But there were hardly any references in the media to this slaughter. For that matter, I don’t recall even the pro-life Republican candidates challenging their Âopponents to comment on this vast, homicidal Âdisrespect for human life—despite the guarantee of “equal protection†in the Fourteenth Amendment and the civil-rights laws. Would the pro-choicers say all those black corpses were not persons under the ÂConstitution?

While the world waits with baited breath to see if Al Gore receives his coveted Nobel Peace Prize, its prudent to reflect on how those differently abled are not entirely happy with the selection process:
“If you are a traitor to your country, and a heretic, who curses his Prophet, you deserve a Nobel Prize.”
….
“Why has the prize been awarded to 167 Jews, and to only four Arabs out of 380 million Arabs - and all four are considered traitors?”
…
On Mother Teresa:
“When they awarded the prize to Teresa, they were trying to award an ‘artificial hymen’ or ‘artificial honor’ to this prize. “
On Tourette’s Syndrome:
 ”I meant Chekhov. Chekhov! Chekhov!”
You said it, not me:
“We, the descendants of Al-Khawarizmi, Al-Jahez, Al-Razi, Avicenna, and Ibn Al-Haytham - are we all born idiots?”
Dick Cheney enters the picture:
“The [Grameen] bank for the poor won the prize because some of its shareholders are giants like Haliburton and others.
Finally, we get down to the root cause:
“They infiltrated this bank, which came to be in the pocket of the Freemasons. This prize stems from the core of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
The fiendish cunning.
Premature withdrawal indeed

Video of Troops from Alpha Company, 2nd Platoon, “Red Devils” from Edmonton, Canada conduct a dawn raid on a Taliban compound on July 13, 2006 in Hydarabad, Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan. (160.44s)
If the closing line by a Canadian soldier in this video doesn’t make you stand 1 inch taller, then you don’t have a patriotic bone in your body. Send this link to your local NDP representative and ask them to forward it on to Jack Layton, so he can intervene on behalf of the Taliban. With firepower like this, someone will have to pull our soldiers off the Taliban before the one eyed sheikapaloozas become a permanent feature on Hinterland Who’s Who reruns.
And, ya, Military.com is a United States website. I’m surprised Jane Taber has been so slow on this one.

Related: The best government that losers can buy.
From a real conservative to you Ontario “conservatives”: Is the message getting through as of yet? Conservatives in Canada are elected by being Conservative, Liberals are elected by being smarmy Practical Men. When Conservatives are smarmy Practical Men, they get creamed.
Don’t want to listen to me? Then listen to recent history:
- Insane Neo-Conservative Mike Harris in 1995: Winner
- Insane Neo-Conservative Mike Harris in 1999: Winner
- Smarmy centrist Ernie Eves in 2003: LOSER
- Smarmy centrist John Tory in 2007: LOSER
Update: I have just finished listening to Dalton McGuinty’s victory speech and am convinced that he is the most offensive politician alive in Canada today. Behind all the syrupy focus group-driven drivel about working together and getting along is…nothing. No substance, no nothing.
Clearly this man is destined to some day lead the Liberal Party of Canada.
