It is difficult to preach from a pedestal of privilege about the rainforests being cut down, or the pollution being wrought in countries of disease and famine. And yet, it also disturbs the sensibilities to watch civilizations eke out survival whilst turning the natural splendour into so much muck and goo. What to do? Who knows? In the end maybe 6 billion people isn't good for the planet. Canadians can hardly feel guilty contributing 30 million.
