“If Only Greens Saw The Forest For The Trees”
For all the harm they propose to do in the First World with their Kyoto social engineering and wealth redistribution experiment, greeny types are already hard at work finding ways of forcing the Third World’s people to eke out impoverished existences from now until the end of time in order to meet their own romantic expectations of the way the world should be.
These people would be properly be called luddites, if they had the cojones to do their own dirty work. It takes a special brand of self-centred self-righteousness to insist that the whole world (including the weather) cease changing in order to meet your personal preferences, and it takes a truly galling amount of nerve to insist it’s the rest of the world’s responsibility to make the sacrifices to ensure your vision is realized.

It is difficult to preach from a pedestal of privilege about the rainforests being cut down, or the pollution being wrought in countries of disease and famine. And yet, it also disturbs the sensibilities to watch civilizations eke out survival whilst turning the natural splendour into so much muck and goo. What to do? Who knows? In the end maybe 6 billion people isn’t good for the planet. Canadians can hardly feel guilty contributing 30 million.
