Attention Prospective Employers of Allen Varlaki

March 12, 2007 · By

I thought you might like an idea of the decision-making ability you’d be hiring, if you were to hire Allen Varlaki.

Allen Varlaki, currently a student at the University of Toronto (check the resume to make sure this is the same guy), is such a freaking genius, that he made a public death threat against the Prime Minister. Here’s Allen Varlaki making a death threat in his own words:

I’ve always maintained that there will come a point at which Stephen Harper will have to take a bullet. I mean, we’ll arrive at a time when the only way we can protect this country, its ideal and its history from a violent rape at the hands of the neo-con pigs is to take this man out.

Might I suggest that the fact that Harper is polling almost two-to-one over Dion as the preferred leader for Canada is a harbinger of this time’s arrival. It’s coming Steve, better invest in some Kevlar.

Just thought you’d be interested to hear that about Allen Varlaki, as a prospective employer of Allen Varlaki.

Allen Varlaki, Allen Varlaki, Allen Varlaki.

Ain’t Google a bitch, Allen?

Wouldn’t that be considered a death threat?

    Lame!

Your use of links is pretty dang annoying, as they all go to the same page (I assume, since I stopped clicking on them after the 6th).

Next, as far as google is concerned, it doesn’t really reveal much (6 if you put his name in quotation marks). At least you can find him on google, “Joel”. So much for being accountable (which is what you are expecting the rest of us to do for his posting, n’est-ce pas?).

Finally, when did thepolitic.com become a forum for little personal vendettas?

Maybe a quick google search for libel may be in order. His employability is nothing you have the ability nor responsibility to comment on.

    Grow up.

Yeh, grow up, yeh that’s it, growing up…

First, when a search term is enclosed in a hyperlink, Google boosts that link in its results for that search term — hence the linking to the same site, and hence the reference to Google.

Second, this isn’t a personal vendetta — I don’t know this kid — this is simply an attempt to ensure that a guy who made a death threat against the Prime Minister sees some lasting consequences as a result.

Finally, as you might be aware if you had even a passing familiarity with libel, truth is an absolute defence. Mr. Varlaki did make the comment quoted above, and there are screenshots to prove it. I didn’t actually say that this would make him a bad employee (though I think he would be)… I simply offered up evidence of a really bad decision for his future employer’s consideration.

Why are you so eager to defend him?

    Three final points:

I am not defending him because I don’t know him.

Commenting on the employability of someone you do not know in a public forum is irresponsible, and could actually be considered libel.

I have come to expect better from thepolitic.com and wanted to voice that concern.

“Commenting on the employability of someone you do not know in a public forum is irresponsible, and could actually be considered libel.”

    I doubt it.

But were I to consider hiring someone, their personal judgement would be something I’d check references on.

The links attached to his name? Well…

joel, i hope next time you make a mistake there’s people around to make sure you bear the fullest possible consequences of it.

the vindictive nature of your blog post says more about you than the guy you’re talking about, and actually makes you the type of person i would never employ.

  8. Joel on March 20th, 2007 3:30 pm [#]

    Oh please.

I suggest that someone who makes a death threat against the PM wouldn’t be a great employee — and that’s worse than actually making the threat??

    Get a grip.

  9. Anonymous on March 20th, 2007 4:28 pm [#]

no… as i said, it’s the nature of your post. it’s not the content. it’s repeating his name a bunch of times to get to the top of a google search.

it’s writing things like “ain’t google a bitch” that exposes your personality. your post wasn’t merely an expression of your opinion that he’d be a bad employee. as i said, it was vindictive, and that makes you look like an asshole.
