There is no doubt Ann Coulter is controversial - her comments have enraged lefties around the world. However, it seems her comments are starting wear thin the patience of fellow conservatives,
The American Mind is petitioning the Conservative Political Action Conference to stop inviting Coulter to speak at CPAC events,
One of the points of CPAC is the opportunity it gives college students to meet other young conservatives and learn from our leaders. Unlike on their campuses—where they often feel alone—at CPAC they know they are part of a vibrant political movement. What example is set when one highlight of the conference is finding out what shocking phrase will emerge from Ann Coulter’s mouth? How can we teach young conservatives to fight for their principles with civility and respect when Ann Coulter is allowed to address the conference? Coulter’s invective is a sign of weak thinking and unprincipled politicking.
CPAC sponsors, the Age of Ann has passed. We, the undersigned, request that CPAC speaking invitations no longer be extended to Ann Coulter. Her words and attitude simply do too much damage.

Well first of all: is what she says true? If it is then you can choose to be offended if you like but da truth is da truth. If it isn’t the truth then does it serve a useful purpose and how far over the horizon does it go? Leftists, like to imagine, exaggerate, and engage in hyperbole and that is okay to many on the right apparently. I find that APAC is controlled by interests that don’t put the USA first myself.

Lefties should not be the only ones disgusted by her. Her repeated vocal ignorance regarding Canada (ie. our role in Vietnam, and our great debt we owe for the privilage of living north of the US) shows not only her ignoranc, but how truly obnoxious she can be. One more reason not to watch FOSNews.

real: Are you on crack? Even if Edwards is gay, how does that make her comment tasteful? Who cares, other than bigots?
That word carries an immense oppressive baggage with it after decades of derogatory usage. There is no doubt about what someone means when they use that word. Everybody knows that. It’s not ‘just a word’, it’s not exaggerated response, and the fact that she used it openly means that she was being purposely derogatory. Sure as sh*t she knows that it is a word that signals a power relationship and represents nothing but insults, beatings and oppression. And you do too…if you say you don’t know that, then you’re being intentionally dishonest. And you’re an asswipe. Accept it.
Please tell me the last time someone on the left used a term that was so obviously weighted and carried that much social baggage. I’d like to hear about it. In fact, you’d better give me three to make up for this time, the stupid-assed ‘macaca’ comment, and Snow’s ‘tar baby’, amongst countless others.
And if you truly believe that it’s just a word and doesn’t carry much weight, then you will gladly let me pick out a gay guy and you can call him a faggot and see what happens. Or, you can do it yourself at home: find a black guy and call him a nigger. Then tell him that he’s over-reacting.
Jackass.

Everyone on the right should be denouncing Coulter as fast as possible. Having her represent your cause is a disaster.

Coulter’s an embarrassment. Virulent homophobia might play well in the sticks today, but in the long run, crap like this can’t help but tarnish the conservative movement.
In fifty years, these kind of attitudes toward gays and lesbians will be viewed in a similar light to the South’s attitudes on race circa 1950. And rightly so.
People who publicly line up behind Coulter today will undoubtedly find themselves vehemently renouncing that support at some point down the road.

Where are “the sticks” Joel? That term smacks of elitist snobbery. Shame on you, you so-called tolerant, enlightened thing you.

My point wasn’t that everyone in rural North America is bigoted, but simply to acknowledge that there is a market for Coulter’s brand of intolerance, and that market isn’t located in urban centres — in other words, offensive homophobic comments like this can actually help conservative fortunes in the short-term, because they play well in the types of rural districts/ridings where conservative support is already concentrated.
In the long run, however, it will hurt the cause, badly.
