Ann Coulter: International Treasure
March 5, 2007 · By Aaron Unruh
In response to Greg’s query for opinions on Ann Coulter following her recent outburst, commenter “Anon” offers up the following sophisticated analysis. I’ve bolded all the post-modern critical thought for your benefit. Every womens studies professor from Hanoi to York University should be smiling from ear to ear in response.
That word carries an immense oppressive baggage with it after decades of derogatory usage….Sure as sh*t she knows that it is a word that signals a power relationship and represents nothing but insults, beatings and oppression….you’re an asswipe….Please tell me the last time someone on the left used a term that was so obviously weighted and carried that much social baggage…. Jackass.
And with that, the verdict is in: Keep Ann Coulter around forever. Anyone who can annoy the sensibilities of the post-modernist left this effectively is clearly an international treasure.

I love when you guys make a new post about an old post. How deep is your naval?
Ugh, give me a break. Ann Coulter is just a better looking Robert McClelland – they each offer up insult rather than reasoned argument, they both drag public discourse of policy into sideshows of politics-as-(bad)-theatre, and both are clueless. This style of attack is wrong, no matter which side it comes from.
The criticism you quote is trite and empty, agreed – it’s really, really irritating.
But Ann Coulter, like any pundit cut from her caustic and poisonous cloth, is not “treasure” to anyone.
Where is the landslide of people to argue that Edwards is not gay? or that McClelland is wrong?
I can be offended anytime at bad words especially if I use them myself as easily as exhaling… but there is a difference between truth and fantasy.
Coulter is possibly the most desperate attention junkie known to humanity. Her remark about Edwards was rude and unseemly, as was her use of the term “raghead” at the same meeting in 2006.
I don’t consider myself right or left wing, but I can tell you no matter how conservative I am or could be, I would not associate with someone like her. She is gross and tacky and argues using sensationalism rather than logic and ideas.
