Getting Even With Pierre Trudeau: A How-To Guide
February 24, 2007 · By Aaron Unruh
Pierre Trudeau may have destroyed the Albertan economy, devastated a generation of westerners and then gone and died before we could get even. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t still extract a bit of revenge: By screwing over his son!
Justin Trudeau is a blue-blood running in a lower-class riding. He has a big Canadian name in a riding of recent immigrants. He’s running against an entrenched incumbent, herself an immigrant, who defeated a cabinet minister in the last election. He is, in short, very defeatable.
So how best to get even with the Trudeaus? By donating a bit of money to the incumbent that can defeat Trudeau, Vivian Barbot. You can donate the individual limit to her constituency association, which will eventually end up in her campaign, before the election. Then you can donate to the campaign itself. Try calling or emailing one of her offices:
514 277-6020 or 613 995-8872
barbov@parl.gc.ca or barbov0@parl.gc.ca
I’ll let you know when I make my donation.

I know the hatred of all things Trudeau runs deep. I know how you feel, I am the same. I thought about this as I live not too far from the riding. However donating or helping seperatists? I apologize but I believe it is more Anti-Canadian to be giving money to the Bloc than it would be to do nothing. This is all in principle, in my mind I am hoping he BURNS but I can not bear being partly RESPONSIBLE for a Bloc victory anywhere.
Aaron: you assume that Justin will win the nomination for the Libs. That’s not a given.
Why not take him out at the ground level? I might be more comfortable donating to another Liberal in the race for the nomination to knock off pierre trudeau’s spawn than giving money to the bloc MP, who comes from a Tonton-Macoute background, btw.
Asking to donate money to the Bloc or Libs instead of the federal Conservatives may also prove to be a bit of a hurdle.
Aaron - pull your head out of your ass for a minute.
Justin Trudeau is NOT HIS FATHER. You choose to judge the man based upon your condemnation of his father. That is both unreasonable and idiotic.
Civ, good point. But I doubt that a serious candidate will go up against Trudeau. If one does, it might be a better idea to donate to him/her to start with.
Grog: Put your head back up your own butt. It’ll keep your ears and nose warm. Might even help your brain fester up a working synapse or two, if you’re lucky enough to have the basic start-up ingredients. D’OH!!
Do not recall hearing your stentorian outrage and scintillatingly clever & snide remarks levelled at the Libs when in the past they pilloried Preston Manning and Stockwell Day because of their respectives Fathers’ positions.
Oh yeah! Sorry. Forgot. It’s in the Liberal Charter: You can dish it out but heaven help anyone who strikes back, huh? NOT.
Suck itr up Nancy, ’cause you Liberals are Dion-led and sleepwalking into a Shit-Storm generated by truly pissed-off Canadians who are ready to take this nation out of your slimy, thieving and fetid, grubby little hands. Note too, that your personal World of Shit with Steffi, Justin(e) and the rest of the re-cycled refue and wankers you call leadershi[p material, is going to be your miserable lot for one hellaciously long, long and dreadfully unhappy time.
I AM luvvin’ this, and the future too.
This is quite a dumb idea. I rather detest Trudeau, like any proper conservative & i’m not high on the Dauphin for that matter either & would love to see him fall flat on his face. But I will not make that happen by supporting a candidate who is committed to the destruction of this country. Find a better way to channel your rage.
Stock’s father wasn’t needed to justify - or simplify - making him look idiotic. The man seriously thinks the Earth is 6000 years old. That takes a special kind of denial.
Here’s hoping Harper lets everyone know about how old HE thinks the Earth is.
I am a proud Conservative and I have little if any use for le Dauphin . . . but I will say this - I will NEVER give money to a separatist.
I love my country a great deal, and while I detest the idea of another Trudeau in Parliament I detest even more the idea of helping a traitor sit in that seat instead. There are a variety of ways that could keep JT out of the seat, and also avoid handing it back to the Bloquiste.
Do not recall hearing your stentorian outrage and scintillatingly clever & snide remarks levelled at the Libs when in the past they pilloried Preston Manning and Stockwell Day because of their respectives Fathers’ positions.
Lessee - Manning is early to mid-90s, and Day around 2000 - I don’t even know if this blog existed back that far (nor do I care). I don’t recall slagging either of these men because of their father’s politics personally.
Attacking a man because of who his father was is unreasonable, immature and silly. Attack him for what he has said and done, fair game - for who his relations are, not so much.
Let the man speak for himself - I’m quite sure he’ll provide plenty of fodder all on his own. (Certainly both Manning and Day did for their critics)
Hopefully, somebody will ask Trudeau Jr. what he thinks of his father’s opinion of multiculturalism later in his life.
Seeing as how Jr. is running in a riding with a high percentage of “new Canadians” it might be interesting to see if he agrees with his father’s believe that multiculturalism is a failure that lead to ghettoization and created special interest groups who’s sole purpose was to go cap in hand to the government for money.
Siscoe & McGuire: I’m wondering how many family members’ of yours lost their jobs as a result of the NEP?
In short, back off. If Albertans want to support a separatist in order to punish a Trudeau, then we’ll do just that.
# 7 Anon. One who thinks, or more accurately, one who believes, the age of the earth to be some 6,000 years young or old, does not hold this belief alone. The teachings of what is known as “creationism” is fundamental to of all Chistendom, and to Islam. These teachings are found, and founded in the Pentateuch, the Five books of Judaism, a religion which also subscribes to these beliefs.
Quite charitable of you to write this all off as some form of “denial…” which makes one appear “..idiotic.”
Here’s a challenge for you: Run that judgementally intolerant mental pap of yours past your local Imams and Rabbinical Councils. Talk it up with your Priests, Pastors, Parsons, Clergy and Laity. Mock, un-anonymously, and openly, the religious basis of a few Billion believers, world-wide.
What one thinks is not often necessarily what one believes, and vice versa.
Coincidentally, Day was reviled for his Father’s ideas favouring concepts of Western Separatism.
And. BTW, for that matter, what are you going to say, think or do, should the Prime Minister declare that he “thinks” the Earth is 6,000 yrs. old, or 60,000,000 yrs. old. Or twelve Trillion, or 412 years old?
What if he says that, rather than “think” this, he “believes” it? You DO notice the fine “nuance” here, I trust, do you?
Just by way of penance: learn not to let yourself display your intolerant shallowness, which others might be tempted to construe as confirmations of your own ignorance.

Whoops - tapped the wrong key…
Aaron - there isn’t a person who lived through the 1980s in Alberta who wasn’t affected by the downturn.
However, that was 20+ years in the past, and the political landscape today is dramatically different than it was in the mid-late 1970s. It’s time to put the past where it belongs - in the past. Assuming that the NEP is going to be resurrected every time a non-Alberta politico muses about the energy industry is just going to give you ulcers.
I think Siscoe and McGuire were referring to giving any political legitimacy to Quebec separatists in particular (since it would seem that Mr. Trudeau is planning to run in Quebec), and you chose to jump down their throats because you are apparently an Alberta separatist.
Not all Albertans are raving separatists, Aaron, and shouting people down does little to advance either your political cause.
