Sorry, not buying it…

So, Stephane Dion wants to be “the best federal friend Alberta has ever had”.
That’s sweet.
Consider some of these other doozies from past Liberal leaders who wanted to be Alberta’s “best friend”
Paul Martin:
“I have said essentially that there are two areas that I will deem my mandate to have been a failure. One is the issue of western alienation, which I don’t believe is a myth. I think it is a reality, and I am determined to do something about it…” (#)
Jean Chretien:
“I am delighted to be back here in Calgary.”
“It is hard work and concrete action — in a spirit of respect, listening, honest dialogue, and partnership — that I, as Prime Minister of Canada, offer Albertans and all Western Canadians in the years to come.” (#)
Pierre Elliott Trudeau:
“I am sorry that we have not more members, particularly from the prairie provinces… we will do our best to ensure our policies apply in fairness to them.”
“I will make sure that if we can succeed we will show the parts of Canada where we are not as strong as we like that we intend to be the government for all Canadians.” (#)
“When westerners speak of alienation, I know they refer not solely to the lack of economic opportunity. Many are at least as concerned with the “lack of leverage” in national decision-making. They want a stronger voice in national affairs.” (#)
Yeah, we all know how that worked out.
Tell you what Stephane: Don’t do us any favours.

” I promise to be Alberta’s best friend”
Lets see…. that sounds like a promise?
It came from a Liberal

As Jeffrey Simpson has wrote, Alberta has put all its eggs in one basket, and there is no real reason why Harper shouldn’t sell Alberta up the river for more seats in Alberta. When your the base, you can be ignored.
