"I don't know he doesn't exist..."

And the reason you don't know one way or the other is because the tools you're using to figure it out (collecting empirical evidence) are inadequate to the task. So why not get a new set of tools?

Tee hee. I guess this IS thejesus.com. I go away for a few days and you guys start theological arguments without me!

Tom=Troll. End of story. Nonsense like categorical knowledge of the nonexistence of God which REQUIRES god-like knowledge to be sure of... then claiming that he DOESN'T know all...

In the meantime and in between time, Happy non-sectarian new year, and welcome to Anno Domini 2007 (oops. guess I was politically incorrect again. My bad.)

"It doesn’t rule out the existence of a god either, something that you would admit if you were as open-minded as you claim to be."

It's also possible that blue wagafulluses exist; should I believe in them too?

"You “know” that God doesn’t exist because you can’t find any evidence to prove that he does."

When did I say that? People imagine god all the time. No one has ever provided a shred of solid evidence that he exists. I don't know he doesn't exist, but with out anyone providing any credible evidence, they seem to be talking to their imaginary friend. If people are going to claim something exists they better have some damn evidence, or else they just look like every other nut job that claims they've been abducted and probed by aliens. I also think it's possible that extra-terrestrials, exists, in fact I suspect it's significantly more likely that they exist than god, but I still wouldn't believe someone who told me they saw them in a corn field last week with out any substantiating evidence; there are a million more likely explanations for what ever they saw including having a bit too much to drink.

I don't claim I know exactly how life began, but not knowing doesn't require the creation of gods to fill in the holes.

I admit not knowing all. The religious claim to know that which they can't possibly know.

With God there is no sound arguments again those who are so dumb as to believe in something for which there is no evidence in the first place.

Tom, how did the universe begin? Where did humans come from? Last I checked there were still conflicting views on both these questions because they lacked sound evidence to reach a definitive conclusion. Yet you believe both exist.

If God is all powerful he is a jackass.

Grow up? You’re the one still talking to an imaginary friend. I think most people with brains stoped doing that around 20 or so.

those who are so dumb as to believe in something for which there is no evidence in the first place.

Imperfect people, created in the image of an imperfect Deity.

Jeezzz, and they say Christians are full of hate. Tom, dmorris, you're the perfect example of hypocrisy and there isn't much point in arguing with you - you're full of hate. I pity your soul.

" And always we must remember that the sin that filled Hussein is the same sin which lives within all of us. Were it not for the restraining hand of God, were it not for His grace, any of us could commit acts equally horrific."
How utterly silly. Few of us would commit the acts of a man like Saddam Hussein, due, not to the restraining hand of God, but , to the fact that most of us were raised to have a certain amount of compassion and respect for human life.
When God created the Saddams of this world, he forgot to include those virtues, and built a totally self centred individual. Those in the psychiatric profession would label him a psychopath, one of God's mistakes.

The only things I'm angry about is that I believe in God for so damn long and that so many people still believe in the fairy tale. The greatest fraud every perpetrated on humanity is the lie that god exists that the fraud artists from the Pope to the local priest propagate in order to control and rip off the masses. Stop being used people! Stop! Save yourselves from the lies!

Tom, it sounds as if you're more angry with God than anything. If you didn't believe in God, then why hold God responsible for all of the problems human beings create for themselves?

And....imaginary friends are something little children concoct. If you still had one at age 20, it might explain a lot of your anger.

Tom,
The answer is simple. These things exist due to human free will. If you rob a bank or become a mass murderer, it's your fault not your parents. You exercised the will to act or not to act in accordance with your own desires, don't blame God. As for your juvenile commentary regarding, "If God is all powerful...", grow up you've got some major issues you need to resolve.

That is an excellent article and mirrors my comment in the previous post. God is a god of justice. God IS just. While we do not feel 'joy' in the death of another human, we do feel that justice has been done. Especially in a case like this.

Too many people want to see God as a kindly grandfather, all love and light and forgiveness. They fail to see the other side of God, the side of might and justice.
