Morton Scares Corporate Red Tories and Dinning Courts Federal Liberals
November 24, 2006 · By H. Cameron
Deborah Yedlin’s fires a few shots across the bow of the Morton campaign. There’s nothing particularly new in the article except for a few memorable quotes,
“We need a leader who can represent Alberta’s economic interests — speaking the language of business — not just on the national stage, but on the international one,” said one long-time Tory insider emphatically. “Contrast that with someone like Ted Morton, who has never run anything other than his classroom. That’s not what this province needs today.”
Apparently intelligence and respect in the academic community isn’t as valuable as “speaking the language of business.” This is the level of sophistication required for leading this province – a few years on a corporate board.
It’s surprising how similar the language being used by Dinning supporters reflects the language used by Paul Martin’s people during the last two federal elections. If you are not seeing the similarities between Dinning and Martin and their accession to power, your head needs to be examined.
A brunch held last Sunday morning in Calgary is but one example. About 50 people gathered in the southwest Calgary home of a couple who are ardent federal Liberals to meet, greet and eat with Mr. Dinning. There was also a bit of membership selling going on, too — even to the Liberals.
Who would have guessed Dinning would be courting federal Liberals? Apparently we’re not just looking at similarities anymore.
Dinning doesn’t just act like a Liberal, he is a Liberal.

The blogs are abuzz…plus he gave the Paul Martin campaign $25,000 with a nice note back in 2002.
“If there is one phrase that strikes fear in the heart of Corporate Alberta, it’s this: Premier Ted Morton.”
Trust a writer from the Globe to tell us what corporate Alberta is thinking.
If the glob is against Morton I think he’s getting my vote . I do not trust or like liberals. In fact what I feel is very close to hatred.
I’m as business friendly as the next person but I don’t like the thought of Dinning being put tinto place by a bunch millionare buddies down at the Petroleum Club in Calgary.
If Morton doesn’t win the leadership then I hope he can devise some sort of “Reform Party” style break away from the PCs.
This bullshit of Liberals in conservative clothing like Dinning pushing their Liberal agenda on everyone is getting old real fast.
Tonight, call your friends & get them out to vote for Morton.
I think Albertan’s are going to do what they always do, independently come to the conclusion that Morton is in our best interests.
If Dinning does win, expect true Conservatives to vote Alberta Alliance next election. Big time!
Conveintly Jim Dinnings name was at the top of the ballot. IT wasn’t in alphabetical order cuz Victor Dorksen was the last.
