ThePolitic.com Quoted on Canadian Press

October 21, 2006 · By

Apparently Jim Dinning isn’t the only one who reads ThePolitic.com. Aaron Unruh’s recent post about Peter MacKay’s lapse in judgement in the House of Commons, has found its way into a Canadian Press article:

OTTAWA — Conservatives are not only supporting Peter MacKay — a handful of them on the Internet are going even further in comparing Belinda Stronach to a dog.

“Peter MacKay should be ashamed: dogs deserve better,” said Dispatches from the Socialist Gulag, one site linked to by the official Blogging Tories website.

The Politic.com, another blog listed on the Tory blogs site, said: “MacKay should apologize . . . to his dog.”

And the vicious cycle ends – the news media report the event, the blogs comment on the event, the new media report on the blog commentary, and now the blogs comment on the news media’s reports about the blogs. Think about it for a minute…

Must have been a slow news day

Notice how they took your statement out of context. You were actually quite critical of MacKay but instead they took you out of context and made it appear that YOU thought he should apologize to his dog. Writers for the CP have no integrity.

I think Greg summed it up best, “Must have been a slow news day.”

[...] Now that CTV has outed ThePolitic.com as a “Defend MacKay at all costs!” blog, let’s revisit the addendum I added to the post in question long before the CP story appeared: All wittiness aside: MacKay is an undisciplined idiot and, apparently, is playing fast and loose with the truth. “The early draft version of Hansard, the official transcript of the House, does not record the McGuinty-MacKay exchange. However, the muffled off-mic words can be made out on an audiotape.” The government doesn’t need this sort of petty distraction from its program. I’d like to see MacKay demoted in the next shuffle (perhaps to amateur sport) if not removed from the cabinet altogether. [...]
