Blogging about Nothing
October 21, 2006 · By Marsilio Facino
Who cares what Canadian Press says about us? As long as they spell our name correctly.
In the meantime, since we doubtless are experiencing a bit of a traffic spike, I’ll direct everyone to a very astute analyzer of popular culture, Dr. Thomas Hibbs. Hibbs wrote Shows About Nothing and since the Peter v Belinda media frenzy is turning into a story about nothing, some of you may be curious where this obsession about nothing comes from.
If Peter v Belinda feels like a Seinfeld episode, there is a reason.

Peter is justified in saying “you already have her”…a funny, clever, and harmless comment. It does NOT mean he feels that way towards all women in general…just THIS one. All Parliamentarians should let this one go, and move forward.
An apology proves one thing. The apologer is wrong and is admitting his mistake. And when that happens, the media hype will die down for now then will dig it up again, just in time for the next election. Don’t apologize. They’re going to drag his name through the mud anyways.
