Howler of the Day: Garth Turner

September 14, 2006 · By

I laughed, I cried. But mostly I laughed. Here is the Backbench Bard Garth Turner waxing eloquent on the deeply-held beliefs of pro and anti-gay marriage people:

There is no one belief or position on this issue, even among those entrusted with the torch of social morality. For some, homosexuality belongs back in the dark, deep closet. For others, it is as much of an expression of God’s love as a husband’s touch upon the nape of his wife’s neck.

Italics added, naturally.

Looks like he’s trying to justify a “both sides are right, let’s just get along” position.

Unfortunately for him, for those he represents, and for anyone who has to listen to such drivel, he’s just trying to please everyone and will only please no one.

Garth’s has totally alienated himself from those he smugly calls “The Righteous Right”. This feeble attempt at trying to gain favour with “faith” leaders is pathetic. His real sentiments are clear…he supports gay marriage. At the very least, stand tall in those cowboy boots, Garth, and tell the truth.
