Georgie - please fellah - you're not making sense again. Why should he have to explain in detail what he means by "Mulroney's fleecing of Canada" - this common knowledge is easily accessible over the internet. He doesn't want to post 40 sentence blogs like you do. If you honestly have no idea what he means by that, then chances are you weren't around then. Which would make you in your teens - come to think of it, that would explain a lot.

I'm not assuming anything needs to be proved. I just think if you raise something like Mulroney's fleecing of Canada, you should explain yourself because not everyone is going to agree that Mulroney did fleece Canada.

As for your brilliant assertion that all misunderstanding could be cleared up by more apt use of Google, that misinformation is the biggest impediment to utopian world peace, yeah, thanks for stepping up to the plate on this one, but no. Did it ever occur to you that educated people can be quite stupid too? Well, maybe I'm asking the wrong person, educated or not.

George - you've proved once again that you're a waste of space. No one wants to read 40 line posts - you want more information, use something called "Google" - why should everyone else have to go out of their way to inform you, you should inform yourself. You're incorrectly assuming that everything needs to be "proved" to you for some reason. The burden of proof lies on you, not on everyone else. You need to inform yourself. But isn't that the essence of Conservativism? Most people who vote conservative simply aren't informed enough (if you bothered to learn something you would never vote for a party who inherently wants to ruin everything). Google that, George.

Frank Wiley - What kind of a quack are you?

Source this well documented "fleecing" and maybe we can have a conversation. Regardless, when people's reputations are at stake the media should show some discression before reporting news that may or may not be true. Politics is not just about "two sides of a story" or personal drama, and there are standards of dignity that our public leaders should expect the media to uphold. It doesn't take much---as this cabinet controversy highlights---to get the Central Canadian media in a snit, demonstrating little regard or appreciation for how Canada's political regime ought to work, and thereby "entertaining" their viewers with the divel of personality conflicts and other soap operas that so dominates their news coverage.

Going back to what Rempel said, with which I whole heartedly agree: "I was not aware that the only prerequisite for investigation of a private citizen was an upset media. Hell, if that were true, the frenetic and perpetually-outraged Canadian media would have half the country under constant wiretaps."

And don't get me wrong, American media can get out of line as well, especially with their recent reporting on the Vice-President's hunting "incident". In this case they are inventing controversy over why they were not notified right away, as though it mattered one bit whether or not they knew about it at all; which they no doubt would have reported on, but it's certainly not the out-rage they are making it out to be.

Garth has become King of the John!

You know if he could keep his mouth shut, he might have a decent funeral...

George Freeman - What are you talking about? The only banana republic action was the fleecing of the tax payers that the conservatives through Mulroney did in the late 80s - a well documented one mind you. It's about time that the media starts reporting this without fear of reprisals or lawsuits from Mulroneys high-priced lawyers.

What kind of banana republic do you want to live in Jason C? Last I checked the rule of law mattered in civil society, and one should be a little weary of media led witch hunts.

Ummmm.... aren't Canadian tax-payers the "latest victim". Since when has Mulroney ever been a victim?. This is simply continuing the saga of the sad Conservative late 80's rape of the tax-payers.

Don't let the facts ever guide any of your arguements - typical Conservatives... God bless Garth - if only more of you were like him, you know, honest and such.

"Then came this week, and the sparks that briefly flew. But that discussion is over. I said my piece. My views are known. Time to move on."

This is what Garth Turner had posted on his blog last night,
and then he shows up on Question Period today and starts it all up again. I guess moving on in Garth's World means something entirely different than the average Canadians.
