CBS Notices Alberta Oil Sands

January 23, 2006 · By Tom Cerber

US network CBS has a long article on the Alberta oilsands and what they mean for US energy security and the int’l economy (the headline shows a 2005 publication date, but the copyright is 2006 - so it seems this article is recent).

Nothing really new for ThePolitic readers, but it’s interesting a major US TV network takes notice.

It’s great to read about a true Canadian success story. The benefits of which will help all of Canada move successfully into the future. It will also help leverage Canadian causes vis-a-vie the US. Liberal policies are finally starting to pay off in the Canadian province of Alberta.

The oil sand project is a disgrace. For
    a) making the rest of canadian taxpayers pay for oil subsidies,
    b) making the rest of canadian taxpayers pay for carbon credits while Alberta benefits,
    c) funnelling all the clean burning natural gas from the MacKenzie pipeline and turning into to dirtier oil,
    d) for pumping oil like mad instead of a conserving for future reserves (when price will also be higher!)
    e) for pushing =better, cleaner industries out of business because of the higher canadian dollar. Alberta is stealing our business.

Alberta conservatism is like Saudi Wahabism
