Liberals to Tackle Western Alienation
August 21, 2005 · By Peter Rempel
“The coming Liberal caucus retreat in Regina will be a “helpful step” toward quelling alienation in Western Canada, says federal Finance Minister Ralph Goodale.”
Oh gosh. Gee whiz. You’re having your caucus meeting two provinces away, I’m touched. Really.
Seriously though, isn’t it amazing that western alienation is given a death warning on every occasion that the Liberal caucus happens to meet west of the Manitoba-Ontario border? Geez, they actually come and visit once every few years. What more could we possibly want?

Off-topic, but do you know who “Edward T. Bear” from that now-dead “Blank Out Times” blog is? If you pull up the other sites “he” has contributed to, http://chronologygrewal.blogspot.com/ and http://chezcolbert.blogspot.com/ , and click on “his” identity in each, you’ll see that “he” is really “Meaghan Champion”, who is also known as “Meaghan Champion-Williams” or “Meaghan Walker-Williams” or “MWW”. Pass it on…
P.S. http://www.no-treason.com/arch.....out-times/
Her blog BlankOutTimes.blogspot.com seems to be filled with comment spam, same as the blog that used to exist called cnd5blogspot.com, formerly “Canada’s 5th Column”, which I’ve suspected is hers…
excuse me, that’s http://cnd5column.blogspot.com/
Meanwhile, Cheney’s giving a speech to the Fraser Institute. A question that answers itself: Which meeting, the Liberal cabinet in Regina, or Cheney at FI, will have a more significant impact on western Canada?
Lyndonn said “You would think that fiscal conservatism would dictate that a meeting should be held where there would be the least amount of travel expenses.”
LOL!
You WERE talking about the Liberals, were you not?
Albertans are not “alienated.” They are indignant, frustrated, angry. But not alienated.
Moreover, throwing money to “solve” a problem is an oligarchic form of politics, not the populist/republican manner that Albertans tend to like. By throwing money, you might alleviate conflicted interests, but you only insult the other’s pride which is why this strategy never works for Quebec. Easterners don’t understand this because they have no pride. They are what Nietzsche called “last men”; people who are risk-averse and see bodily gratification as the only thing humans desire.
You will get a taste of the entrenched western alienation technique( I refer to it as long term federalist cultural/economic isolation and political hostility towards the nation’s peripheries) from the liberals in the next federal election. When all fails, and their polls are dragging, the liberals resort to slagging the west, it’s politics and leaders to get votes in GTA…they set east against west and the MSM is the friggin’ cheerleader…Chretien did this and Martin will follow in his steps….he has already engaged in blame shifting to the US…next he will make Alberta the “fed funding bogy man” because all the transfer short falls are greedy alberta’s fault.
It just never frikkin’ ends…but it will soon as there are more and more mainstream Albertans discussing cutting political ties with Ottawa as a solution to the long term isolation, pillage and political estrangement.
