Dr. Fabrikant’s Solution
August 20, 2005 · By Peter Rempel
Yesterday, Bourque linked to a story about killer Valery Fabrikant’s USENET ramblings, apparently smuggled out of prison by a fawning former graduate student and posted online. I thought it was interesting and went digging for more info on Fabrikant. This is what I came up: A detailed, well-written account of the events that led up to the killings.
It is quite simply fascinating, and by far the most interesting read I have encountered in a while. The article covers a topic that will be obscure to most people: the internal politics of universities, both within the administration and the individual departments. The author, Morris Wolfe, paints a compelling portrait of Fabrikant not by solely emphasizing Fabrikant’s pathologies but by placing him within the wider structures of an incompetant university administration, dishonest department officials, and a corrosive academic ethos that values publications above all else. Fabrikant’s treatment is insightful; Morris speculates that Fabrikant became aware that “truly unsocialized behaviour has the rest of us and most of our institutions at a disadvantage.” But the most interesting passages focus on the characters who surrounded Fabricant.

Peter: One of the most edifying facts in the Fabrikant murders (and the most officially repressed truth) is the fact that this Psycho accomplished his murders with legally owned and registered handguns.
Fabricant was issued both a firearms acquisition licence and permits for restricted weapons. He was issued the permits in spite of the fact his future victims has given police sworn statements that he has threatened them.
Interesting to note is that Marc Lapine ( Gamil Gharbi) was also issued a firearms permit by the same police force after he had been rejected from military service as mentally unfit (he was on army records as stating he wanted to emulate Dennis Lortie). These records were open to the requisite police background search when he applied for a firearms licence with Montreal police.
The link between Canada;s 2 most infamous mass murders is that the murderers were armed by the government gun control bureaucrats.

Very good point. Not only did Fabrikant follow the letter of the law in acquiring his guns, but he used to process itself to threaten those he hated.
Wolfe’s article is not scientific. It depics facts and opinions that are those of the author and thus does not portrait the situation as it should have been analysed. There are several other factors to be regarded in the Fabrikant affair and one does not want to say, in an journalistic article, that maybe the motivations of Fabrikant were justified. The journalistic form of writing does not allow a tight analysis and therefore, Wolfe’s article should not be taken too seriously (exept the historical facts that are well detailed)
Having the bad luck to have contact with Fabrikant in prison, I have been subjected to his harassment, threats, blackmail and allegations. It is very unfortunate that the very same unacceptable behaviour is still getting the little man what he wants. He abuses the inmate redress system to his own advantages forcing every individual he comes in contact with to defend themselves against hundreds of complaints and grievances a month. He calls the staff names and belittles them at every opportunity and we are forced to defend ourselves against his threats and complaints and try not to get caught in his manipulation. I honestly think he still believes himself “all important” and doesn’t realize that he is an inmate in our Prison system for committing multiple, premeditated murder. He is still gathering victims all throughout his incareration. What a shame.
Mr. Valery Fabrikant, former professor at Concordia University in Mechanical Engineering, in Montreal, Canada, felt that he owned the world. He was a gruesome pyschopath with selfish intentions. And I bet you all one thing, that when, and if he is ever released from prison (hopefully he won’t be), he might do something 10 times worse, as his behavior is still and more chaotic today. The greatest fear in students, is that although it will be much harder for him to possess a gun, he might find the next alternative weapon as his strategy against the world. Who knows, he could randomly slash someone’s throat, he could stab another teacher, etc. His threating and blackmailing character in prison is an analogy and reminder of the muslim extremist pigs involved in the beheading of hostages in Iraq as a pressure tactic for the release of al-Queda prisoners. That’s his level of inhumanity.
Just to raise awareness that students who have been molested by Mechanical Engineering Professor Valery Fabrikant at Concordia University in Montreal, the gunman who murdered his collegues in 1992. Anyone who has been approached in any inappropriate way is welcomed to contact the info-crime unit at 514-393-1133, even though he is already serving his sentence. Fabrikant may have been involved in a wide range of sex crimes, possibly including crimes against youth under 18. Fabrikant has been witnessed in the past for making extremely inappropriate advances to his students; one complaint was made in 1982 at Concordia (archived in Concordia Link) possibly in exchange for academic credit. He was also noted molesting a teacher at the University of Calgary, Alberta. Such sexual advances may have included using his hands to make physical contact with the breasts of female students, nudly removing his clothing (including his underwear), co-ercing others to do the same, possibly with a weapon such as a knife, and confining students in a room on campus for such above-mentioned actions. If you have any information regardless of such details, feel free to report them to police. All reports are anonymous.
