The Campus Echo Chamber

Via OpinionJournal.com, Christina Hoff Sommers at National Review reports on a group of campus Republicans at a college in Rhode Island who have gotten into some trouble for staging the “Penis Monologues,” as a spoof of the feminist icon, “Vagina Monologues.”
This is really funny. You can make a ton of jokes about “monologues” and both types of anatomy. If you’re a real nerd, you could even proclaim such “monologues” as metaphors for the ideological echo chambers.
But best of all, I encourage all you boys and girls to dress up in a big penis mascot costume, call him “Testaclese,” go greet your academic dean or provost, and hand him a “Penis Warrior” award (whatever that is), like the Republican group in Rhode Island.
Even so, these aren’t simple-minded frat boys because they know about sophisticated political analysis:
The campus conservatives artfully (in the college sense of “artful”) mimicked the V-Day campaign. They papered the school with flyers that said, “My penis is majesticâ€? and “My penis is hilarious.â€? The caption on one handout read, “My Penis is studious.â€? It showed Testaclese reclining on a couch reading Michael Barone’s Hard America, Soft America.
A splendid example of ridiculing the humorless.
