Drug Use in Iran: Republic of “Virtue”

April 23, 2005 · By

An Iranian government newspaper claims that about 4 million Iranians, or about 6% of the population, are drug users:

Quoting “official surveys”, the Iran newspaper said that out of the total number of narcotics users, some 2.5 million people were actual addicts. The report gave no further details.

I can just imagine the Iranian rulers’ thinking. Our nation is under seige. The Americans undermine us. We must tighten our Islamist rule and step up anti-American rhetoric.

See how much I learn about backwards countries by studying the Canadian government?
