Lefty Profs Can’t Teach
April 20, 2005 · By Tom Cerber
The Washington Times reports on a Harvard study showing more university and college students prefer Bush and the Republicans than the Democrats:
The survey of 1,206 students nationwide finds about 47 percent approve of Mr. Bush, about 46 percent disapprove and about 6 percent are unsure. There’s an uptick in collegiate conservatism as well: 33 percent say they are conservatives, up three points from 2004.
…
“Young people didn’t just ‘talk the talk’ on voting in 2004 — they walked the walk, turning out in even greater numbers in the last election than seniors aged 65 and older,” poll director Philip Sharp said.
Now, it turns out students in 2004 voted for Kerry over Bush (52 to 38%), so we’re not talking about a groundswell of Republicans on college campuses.
Even so, despite the talk of the liberal bias in the academy, students might be demonstrating their superior intelligence to that of their professors by ignoring the ideological prattle and focusing on what they’re there for: for an education.
