“Socialism works. I think Cuba might prove that.” –Chevy Chase.

April 18, 2005 · By

Hollywood’s love for Fidel Castro and his Cuban socialist utopia are reaching pathetic levels. What isn’t surprising is that many of the same celebrities who sing the praises of Castro’s regime were also those who openly supported John Kerry’s presidency.

Coincidence?

Hollywood’s Mindless Love Affair With Castro

It is amazing how Castro has caused so many liberals and Hollywood types almost to swoon. Hitler in Berlin would have been hard-pressed to have done it better.

  • Viva Fidel! Viva Che! Castro is the most honest and courageous politician I’ve ever met.” –Jesse Jackson.
  • “Very selfless and moral. One of the world’s wisest men.” –Oliver Stone.
  • “Cuba’s Elvis.” –Dan Rather.
  • “Castro is at the same time the island, the men, the cattle, and the earth. He is the whole island.” –Jean Paul-Sartre.
  • “A dream come true!” –Naomi Campbell.
  • “If you believe in freedom, if you believe in justice, if you believe in democracy, you have no choice but to support Fidel Castro!” –Harry Belafonte.
  • “A genius.” –Jack Nicholson.
  • “Fidel, I love you. We both have beards. We both have power and want to use it for good purposes.” –Francis Ford Coppola.
  • “The first and greatest hero to appear in the world since the Second World War.” –Norman Mailer.
  • “Castro is an extraordinary man. He is warm and understanding and seems extremely humane.” –Gina Lollobrigida.

of course there is the fact that thanks to socialism, Cubans don’t have any money. Many Cubans are still riding around in decrepit vehicles from before the communists seized control in 1959. On the other hand, the esteemed intellectual Chevy Chase asserts that “Socialism works. I think Cuba might prove that.”

This reminds me of one of the few moments of clarity for Hollywood during the run-up to the Iraq war. Commedienne Jennifer Garafalo realized that the more actors spoke out against the war, the more support for it rose. When you have idiots speaking for a cause, everyone else wants to avoid being in the same camp.

    How about this one: “Long live Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro. Long live Cuban-Canadian friendship.” Pierre E. Trudeau. He was Holliwoodesque. (;

There is a serious need to find Michael Jackson’s endorsement of Castro.

Yeah, Moonbattery, and Americans are bombarded by thousands of bits of advertising everyday to be sublimnally seduced to buy more and more, newer and supposedly better stuff at higher and higher prices while their wages sink for increasing corporate profit. After all, we NEED new and better cars, we need new and better stuff, forget self-sufficiency, we cannot LIVE without new junk – just keep being seduced and work your butt off! See ya at the mall.

It sounds like St Ann is angry about something? what if the Cubans actually needed to buy something new? What then? Oh my gosh! & someone tell me what is it about Socialism that is actually working? Is it really a good thing to allow the government to have their greedy little hands in everything? My daughter went to Cuba a few years ago with her journalism class, she spent 6 weeks living with various families in different towns. Taking pictures & asking questions. It was a fantastic experience but, she said it was very depressing, that people didn’t have much & in many cases they didn’t have enough. (my daughter was not raised in the lap of luxury or spoiled with materialistic things) She happened to be there over Fidels birthday & the talk that she heard was the towns people were afraid that his son was going to take over & he has been said to be so much worse than Fidel? Doesn’t sound like the everyday joe is very happy down there.

It is very ironic that while Fidel Castro speaks against the rich, that it is indeed rich people (these Hollywood celebrities) who speak good of Fidel Castro, even though they would have never been allowed to succeed had they been born in Cuba.

But nobody speaks badly about these Hollywood stars, instead, people prefer to say how bad and evil middle class people are for having a car, and maybe a house or apartment of their own, but never speak badly of those celebrities swimming in millions and millions of dollars.

    The hypocresy.

Got something to say? (Read the rules first)
